Strackxhoeve is a regenerative community farm in the Merode area of the Southern Kempen, where we strive for a future-proof agricultural model that connects people and nature. On our seven hectares of land, we work with heart, body, and soul on a resilient ecosystem in which biodiversity, habitat diversification, and healthy, living soil take center stage. By applying regenerative farming methods, we increase the carrying capacity of the land and ensure that agriculture and nature reinforce each other rather than work against one another. Our cooperative structure enables the community to become co-owners of the farm and thus contribute directly to sustainable food production. Transparency, respect for the land, and fair compensation for our farmers are fundamental values in our operations. We believe that healthy, nutritious food is inextricably linked to care for our environment. In this way, we are building together an agricultural model that not only nourishes but also restores and connects.
Our main specialty is offering vegetable boxes, composed of more than 80 different types of vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers, which we harvest weekly from May to December. Each box reflects the rhythm of the season and the richness of our regenerative farming method. In addition to vegetables, we also offer shiitake mushrooms and edible flowers, and we plan to expand our assortment in the future with fruit, nuts, and other perennial crops. In our Bar Rabar, we serve homemade drinks and dishes made with products from our own fields, supplemented with local and organic regional products. Our Community Kitchen and the exclusive three-course dinner 'Nu Op ’t Veld' introduce visitors to the pure flavors of the land, straight from the field to the plate. Everything is grown and prepared by hand with attention to craftsmanship and quality, ensuring optimal taste and nutritional value. In this way, we offer not just food, but an authentic experience of terroir and craftsmanship.
Strackxhoeve aims to have a positive impact on the local gastronomic ecosystem by actively involving people in the agricultural process and the food chain. We organize open field days, harvest festivals, tours, and dinners in the fields, allowing local residents, volunteers, and visitors to connect with the origin of their food. Through our cooperative approach and co-ownership of the land, we strengthen social cohesion and stimulate local entrepreneurship. Our collaboration with local traders, shops, and restaurants ensures that the value of regeneratively grown products is widely supported in the region. We offer educational sessions on regenerative agriculture and agro-ecology, so that knowledge and tradition are passed on to a new generation. In this way, we contribute to a more conscious, healthier, and more connected community. Our approach inspires others to also choose sustainable and responsible food production.
Our collaborations and sourcing practices are fully focused on sustainability, transparency, and local roots. We work closely with regional shops, organic shops, and young chefs who transform our products into unique dishes, and actively seek new pick-up points with local partners. All our crops are grown without artificial fertilizers or pesticides, with minimal use of heavy machinery and maximum attention to manual labor. By choosing agroforestry, food forest edge farming, and other nature-inclusive methods, we restore the landscape and increase biodiversity. Our cooperative structure ensures that the community owns the land, guaranteeing access to healthy food and a fair wage for the farmer. We strive to keep our cycle as local as possible and continuously work on expanding our network of sustainable partners. In this way, we guarantee that every step in our chain contributes to a healthy planet and a just society.
